Brazilian
But Lift
Buttock enhancement using your own fat to improve balance and definition
You may start thinking about a Brazilian Butt Lift when your lower body no longer feels as balanced as it once did. The line from your waist to your hips may seem less defined, or you may feel that projection is limited in a way that changes how jeans, dresses, or workout clothes fit. Adjusting this area can create a more defined waist-to-hip shape while still looking like you.
A Brazilian Butt Lift uses your own purified fat to add volume to the buttocks. Liposuction is performed in areas such as the abdomen, flanks, back, or thighs. This allows those areas to be slimmed and shaped at the same time fullness is added where you want it. Because your own tissue is used, the result typically feels soft and natural. Adequate fat stores are necessary for this procedure.
At PIPS (Partners in Plastic Surgery of West Michigan), safety and careful technique guide every step. Fat is placed only in the superficial layer above the muscle, in accordance with current Safe BBL Guidelines. Thoughtful placement helps create fullness that fits naturally with the rest of your body.
Surgical approach
The procedure begins by identifying the areas that will provide donor fat and determining how those areas can be shaped to support a balanced lower-body outline. Liposuction is performed with controlled movements designed to remove fat evenly and reduce surface irregularities. Attention is given to how the waist flows into the hips, not just how much fat is removed.
The harvested fat is then purified to separate healthy cells from excess fluid. During reinjection, small amounts are layered carefully into the tissue above the muscle. This approach supports even distribution and a stable result. Fat is not injected into the muscle.
Surgery usually takes between two and four hours, depending on how many areas are treated.
Recovery and results
Recovery requires temporary changes in how you sit and rest. Direct pressure on the buttocks is typically avoided for about two weeks, and you will receive specific positioning instructions to help protect the transferred fat. Swelling is expected and gradually improves over the following weeks.
A portion of the transferred fat will naturally be absorbed by the body. As swelling settles and the remaining fat stabilizes, improved fullness becomes more noticeable. The intention is a shape that feels balanced and proportionate to your build.
Safety and follow up
All surgery carries risk, and these are reviewed clearly during consultation. The most serious concern associated with BBL is fat embolism. This risk is addressed by placing fat only in the superficial layer above the muscle and avoiding intramuscular injection. Careful technique also helps reduce the chance of uneven volume, infection, or asymmetry.
You will receive detailed instructions regarding compression garments, movement, and positioning. Follow-up visits allow healing and fat retention to be monitored closely.
Insurance information
At this time, insurance is not accepted for cosmetic body contouring procedures. During your consultation, costs and payment options will be reviewed clearly so you know what to expect before making any decisions.
