Breast Augmentation
Restoring volume, balance, and confidence with natural-looking results
Breast augmentation is a deeply personal decision. For many patients, it is about more than changing breast size. It is about restoring balance, regaining confidence, and feeling comfortable in one’s body again. Whether the goal is to enhance volume, address asymmetry, or restore fullness after pregnancy or weight changes, breast augmentation is approached with care, intention, and respect for each individual’s story.
At PIPS (Partners in Plastic Surgery of West Michigan), breast augmentation is never approached as a one-size-fits-all procedure. Every surgical plan is carefully developed to support natural-looking results that feel appropriate for the patient’s anatomy, lifestyle, and long-term goals. Our focus is on subtle, well-balanced enhancement that helps patients look and feel like themselves.
Who may consider
breast augmentation
Breast augmentation may be an option for individuals in good overall health who wish to improve breast volume, shape, or symmetry, or to restore changes that have occurred over time. During the consultation process, special attention is given to understanding personal motivations, expectations, and concerns. This allows for honest conversations and realistic goal setting, ensuring that surgery is pursued thoughtfully and with a clear understanding of potential outcomes.
Surgical approach and planning
Breast augmentation involves the placement of breast implants to enhance volume and contour. At PIPS, surgeons use FDA-approved implants from established manufacturers such as Mentor and Motiva, selected for their safety, reliability, and natural feel. Surgical planning begins with a detailed evaluation of chest anatomy, skin quality, tissue characteristics, and overall body proportions, combined with thoughtful discussion of personal preferences and lifestyle considerations.
Every aspect of the procedure, from implant selection to incision placement, is approached with precision and intention. The goal is to create results that integrate naturally with the patient’s body while supporting long-term safety and satisfaction.
Recovery and results
Most patients are able to return to everyday activities within approximately one week, with temporary limitations on strenuous exercise, including lifting restrictions, as healing progresses. While changes are visible immediately after surgery, the final appearance continues to refine over the following weeks as swelling subsides and the tissues settle. The intended outcome is a breast contour that appears soft, balanced, and natural, enhancing the body without drawing attention to the procedure itself.
Commitment to safety and care
Patient safety is central to every breast augmentation performed at PIPS. Surgeons rely on refined techniques, proven implant technologies, and meticulous surgical planning to reduce the risk of complications such as infection, capsular contracture, or implant displacement. Ongoing follow-up care and clear postoperative guidance ensure that patients feel supported throughout the recovery process.

Surgical facility and insurance information
Breast augmentation is considered a cosmetic procedure and is rarely covered by insurance, except in limited cases such as certain congenital conditions.
Most breast augmentation procedures are performed in our private, on-site surgical facility, allowing us to provide personalized, seamless care in a comfortable and controlled environment. Our on-site operating room does not bill insurance and is reserved for self-pay procedures.
Beginning January 1, 2026, Dr. Hammond will no longer participate with any insurance plans for surgical services and will offer self-pay procedures exclusively.
Dr. Goote also performs breast augmentation on a self-pay, cosmetic basis in our on-site surgical facility.
For the rare cases in which breast augmentation surgery is covered by insurance, surgical care is provided by Dr. Paige Goote and performed at an approved outpatient surgery center or hospital, including Grand Valley Surgical Center, Corewell Health Lake Drive, or Trinity Health Saint Mary’s.
Dr. Goote continues to participate with select insurance plans for breast reconstruction, revision, and breast reduction procedures when medically indicated.
