Our Surgery Center
A private, on-site setting designed for safety, comfort, and a welcoming experience
We look forward to welcoming you to our outpatient plastic surgery center in Grand Rapids, Michigan. For many patients, the surgical setting is an important part of the experience. It is where preparation, procedure, and early recovery all come together, and it should feel organized, reassuring, and thoughtfully managed.
At PIPS, Partners in Plastic Surgery of West Michigan, most cosmetic procedures are performed in our private, on-site surgical facility, located on the lower level of our office building. Having everything in one place allows your care to feel more continuous and familiar, without the need to move between different locations or teams.
There is a certain approach to care in the Midwest that values attentiveness, respect, and clear communication. That philosophy carries through every part of the experience here. From the moment you arrive, the goal is for you to feel welcomed, well-informed, and supported without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
A Space Designed for Comfort and Clarity
The surgical center is fully equipped with modern technology while maintaining an environment that feels calm and approachable. Privacy is carefully considered, and the space is designed to feel quiet and well-organized rather than overly clinical.
On the day of surgery, small details matter. Knowing where to go, who you will see, and what comes next can make a meaningful difference. The environment is structured so that each step feels clear and manageable, helping reduce unnecessary stress.
Patients often share that having surgery in a familiar setting, where they have already met the team and understand the process, makes the experience feel more comfortable from the start.
The Team Caring for You
During your procedure, you are cared for by our Anesthesia Director, a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, along with a dedicated team of Registered Nurses who remain with you throughout the entire process.
From the moment you enter the operating room through your time in recovery, your care is continuously monitored. Attention is placed not only on safety, but also on your comfort and overall experience.
Every member of the surgical team is trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. This level of preparation reflects a commitment to readiness and careful oversight at every stage of care.
Just as important, the team is experienced in guiding patients through the day of surgery in a way that feels steady and supportive. Questions are answered directly, and each step is explained as you move through the process.
Safety and Accreditation
Our surgery center is fully accredited by QUAD A, an organization dedicated to maintaining high standards in outpatient surgical care.
Accreditation means that the facility has been evaluated for safety, equipment, staffing, and surgical protocols according to established guidelines. These standards are reviewed regularly, not just once, through ongoing inspections and monitoring.
For patients, this provides an added level of reassurance that the environment where surgery takes place is held to consistent and recognized standards.
Continuity of Care
One of the advantages of an on-site surgical facility is continuity. The same team involved in your consultation remains connected to your care on the day of surgery and throughout your recovery.
This continuity helps communication stay clear and consistent. It also means that your care is not fragmented across different systems or unfamiliar environments.
Follow-up visits take place in the same location, allowing your progress to be monitored closely and any questions to be addressed along the way.
A Midwest Approach to Care
Care in the Midwest is often described as straightforward, attentive, and grounded. It is less about formality and more about making sure you feel comfortable asking questions, taking your time, and understanding your options.
That approach shapes the experience at PIPS. There is an emphasis on listening first, explaining things clearly, and allowing decisions to be made at a pace that feels right for you.
You are not expected to have everything figured out before you arrive. The process is meant to feel collaborative, with guidance that is practical, honest, and easy to follow.
Insurance Information
Most procedures performed in our on-site surgical facility are cosmetic and are not covered by insurance.
If you are considering surgery, the cost of the procedure and related care will be your responsibility. During your consultation, pricing and payment options will be reviewed with you in detail so you have a clear understanding before making any decisions.
Beginning January 1, 2026, Dr. Hammond will no longer participate with insurance plans for surgical services and will offer self-pay procedures exclusively. Dr. Goote continues to participate with select insurance plans for breast reconstruction, certain revision procedures, and breast reduction when medically indicated. When insurance coverage applies, procedures are performed in approved outpatient surgery centers or hospital settings as required.
