* Here is an example of what some of the new techniques that are being used in breast reconstruction can do to make a good breast reconstruction even better. This is a 46 year old woman who had bilateral mastectomies and immediate anatomically shaped implant breast reconstruction 6 years ago. A breast lift was incorporated into the mastectomy pattern giving her the appearance of having a breast augmentation mastopexy. The only problem was that in certain circumstances one could see the slight wrinkling of the breast implants through the skin covering her implants. She and her surgeon had been discussing various options for a few years. However, after having added fat grafting to his armamentarium, a discussion of surrounding the entire implant with an even layer of her own fat became a very appealing one. Six weeks ago the out patient procedure was performed. As you can see, the difference is subtle but significant and the visible wrinkling much reduced.
