*This 59-year-old woman had lost 50 pounds! She still had excess skin and some fat remaining in her abdomen. Previous additional abdominal surgeries increased the complexity of her proposed surgery. She came to see one of our experienced surgeons to discuss what her options might be. It was decided that it would be best to do her post-weight loss plastic surgery procedure as an outpatient in one of the local Grand Rapids, MI hospitals. First of all the abdomen was lipo-suctioned to remove the remaining excess fat. Then the excess skin was removed, umbilicus (belly button) freed up and later re-sutured into place. Finally her abdominal wall was plicated with rows of suture to regain her abdominal wall competency. Her incision was carried out laterally to avoid “dog-ears” where the incisions ended.

Her result is a big change from where she started. She is very pleased with her new look. Her post-op photos are 6 months after surgery.
