Injectables

As we age, it can show on our faces. Repetitive facial movements over a period of time, smoking, prolonged sun exposure, and other factors can be a cause of wrinkles and fine lines as well. Typically, people notice their "frown lines" (in between the eyebrows), "smile lines," lines in the forehead, or even "crow's feet." With the help of injectable treatments, such as dermal fillers and the neurotoxins Dysport® and BOTOX®, Grand Rapids, Michigan patients can restore a youthful appearance to their face with these non-surgical approaches.

Our physicians understand that every case is different and strive to give you exceptional personal care. We have extensive experience with these procedures and perform procedures in our accredited facility. If you would like to learn more about BOTOX and fillers, request a consultation online or call us at (616) 464-4420.

BOTOX® Cosmetic

Partners in Plastic Surgery of West Michigan offer BOTOX Cosmetic, a simple, non-surgical procedure that smoothes the deep, persistent lines between your brows that have developed over time. We also use BOTOX to maintain the improvements from facial surgery procedures like a face lift. BOTOX is a neurotoxin — meaning it works by temporarily interrupting the signals sent from the nerves to the muscles. One quick treatment – a few tiny injections – relaxes the muscles that cause those lines to form and keeps them relaxed for approximately 3 to 4 months, although this varies between patients. BOTOX Cosmetic treatment has been widely tested and is approved by the FDA. Results of this treatment may vary.

Dysport®

While BOTOX is the most familiar neurotoxin treatment used to soften forehead wrinkles, crow's feet, and vertical worry lines between the eyes, Dysport offers similar benefits. It's another injectable neurotoxin offered at our practice. Dysport came on the market in 2009 and is a welcome addition to the range of anti-aging injectables, especially in cases in which patients don't benefit from BOTOX. It works in the same way as BOTOX, but there are some differences:

  • Dysport usually takes effect more quickly than BOTOX (in about 2 to 5 days).
  • In clinical studies, Dysport has been found to have a slightly longer lasting effect in most cases.

The results of Dysport injections may not last quite as long as BOTOX, and it sometimes requires more units of Dysport to produce the same results as BOTOX.

JUVÉDERM®

JUVÉDERM is a smooth-consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid—a naturally occurring substance in your skin that helps to add volume and hydration. JUVÉDERM is injected under the skin to instantly restore volume and smooth away facial wrinkles and folds, like your "smile lines" or "parentheses" that run from the bottom of your nose to the corners of your mouth. Most patients report that a JUVÉDERM treatment can last from 6 to 9 months depending on treated area.

Restylane®

Restylane is similar to JUVÉDERM in many ways, including the fact that it's formulated using hyaluronic acid (HA). Restylane is a smooth gel that's injected to areas where age-related volume loss results in wrinkles and folds, such as around the corners of the mouth and along the nasolabial folds. Restylane produces immediate results, which typically will last from 6 to 9 months.

Restylane® Silk

This is the first dermal filler approved by the FDA specifically for augmenting the lips and softening "smile lines." Many of our patients want fuller, more sensuous lips without looking unnaturally plump. Restylane Silk provides subtle, but effective results when a skilled injector performs the treatment.

Restylane® Lyft

Some areas of the face, such as the cheeks, require a filler that does more than simply replace lost volume. Sunken or hollow cheeks can make you look much older than you feel. Restylane Lyft is approved by the FDA to actually provide lift to the cheeks and midface area. Lyft, formerly called Perlane-L®, is a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler, as are all the injectables in the Restylane family of products.
