* This 50 year old woman had undergone a breast augmentation in the 1980’s. She presented with 30 year old implants and capsular contracture. As well she had mammographic evidence of a ruptured implant. She wanted to retain her full breast look so she came to our office to discuss having the ruptured implant(s) removed and new implants put in place. Both of her implants were indeed ruptured so her experienced surgeon removed the capsules that surrounded the implants along with the old implants, then simply put new implants in their place. Because the size of her previous implants was unknown sizers were used intra-operatively to help to determine a good size for the new implants. Smooth round gel implants with a moderate plus projection and 300cc fill were used. It is now two years after her implant exchange and she is doing well and has a very pretty result.
