* Here is a 52 year old woman who presented with a right breast cancer. She knew that she wanted to have bilateral mastectomies with immediate breast reconstruction. She came to our office to discuss her options for breast reconstruction. She had a lengthy discussion with her surgeon as her options were many. After much discussion and looking at pre and post operative photos, she decided to proceed with using her tummy tissue to reconstruct her breasts. The exact method would be the D.I.E.P. flap which would preserve the muscle integrity of her abdominal wall and give her a tummy tuck as well. She underwent the first stage of her reconstruction as an in patient, then 9 months later had her 2nd stage which included revision of the breasts using fat grafting, revision of scars and bilateral nipple and areola reconstruction. Four months later her reconstructed nipple & areolas were tattooed. These photos show her only 4 weeks after her tattooing. The tattoos will fade some with time completing a beautiful breast reconstruction.
